Synfig Meeting

Friday, August 18, 2006 by pabs

Page moved to the wiki: Meetings/2006-08-27

On 27th August, we had a meeting to discuss some things:

  • Adding some more people to replace what I did (I'm going away from the Internet for 3 months): be available help users on IRC, look at new bugs that get posted, watch the IRC logs, comments posted to the website, changes to the wiki and act accordingly.
  • ideas for expanding the amount of people working on synfig.
  • the roadmap for 1) the next release 2) future releases

The meeting minutes and IRC logs are available now, please read them and get involved!

fontconfig support, ffmpeg target

Wednesday, July 12, 2006 by pabs

I've implemented fontconfig support for synfig and committed the results to SVN (revision 183). This means that on Linux, it will ask the font system for a particular font, instead of just searching based on filename. It could use some testing, please follow the build-instructions. I'd like to have it ready and supported ASAP. It is working on Debian sid, but other distros need testing. Update: SVN 184 fixed a silly bug in it (Thanks to Daniel Fort).

Also, the ffmpeg import and render target was recently updated for modern ffmpeg (thanks to Luka Pravica for investigation and the solution). Results are in SVN (revision 181), so please test that too :)

Also, the synfig IRC channel has been pretty quiet lately. Anyone out there working on or using Synfig? We'd love to see what people are working on.

PS: due to spam, we had to add a captcha.

New developer

Thursday, January 26, 2006 by pabs

Since darco has been a bit busy as of late, he as given me access to add news postings here, the subversion repository and the SourceForge project for closing bugs and stuff. My role will be to filter, fix and feed bug fixes and patches from the user community into the subversion repository. Since I am a newbie when it comes to animation, your feedback is important for me. I also only use Linux/Windows, so I'll rely on others to test the MacOS builds. I should be able to find OSX build machines though. Jump onto the wiki, irc channel and bug tracker and get contributing!!

For those who don't know me, I've been involved in Synfig since I started packaging it for debian. Mainly I helped work out some compilation and copyright issues.

The subversion server is back up. Sorry it took so long. Read how to use it here. The wiki is still down though at the moment.

Subversion Server Down

Monday, December 12, 2005 by darco

Please consider the subversion repository to be down. I'm having some server issues at the moment, and I won't be in a good position to fix it until later this evening.

UPDATE: I'm also taking the wiki down for a bit as well. Everything just had to break at once right when things were getting busy... But that's how it always works, right?
